-Ill Manors is a hip hop video
-Uses sequence to show how people are perceived and how the message is created using shots from the news and other media i.e.. London Riots as well as shots from someone's perspective
What is the relationship between lyrics and visuals?
There are lots of links between lyrics and visuals throughout this music video for example:
-"Be the joker, play the fool, what's politics aint it all"- shows graphic of David Cameron and Nick Clegg some people may say the are fools
-"Read about or heard"-TV footage shown
-"Stay where you're safest"-wide shot from far away from crowd
-"My manors ill"- media footage of someone jumping on the roof of a car
-"I predict a riot"- media shot of London riots
-"Could get robbed for"- media shot of group of people breaking into shop media shot
What is the relationship between music and visuals?
- The music and visuals often link with each other as shots such as towards the end of the music video the tempo gradually speeds up as it does the shots become choppier going from media shots to the shots showing the artist and the group then when the beat is about to drop the explosion of the car brings the beat back.
Are there close ups of the artist and image motifs?
-There are many close ups of the artist for example. "got a hoodie on" an extreme close up of the artist putting his hood up is shown. Close ups are mainly used throughout the music video to show examples of what people think happens in the type of area and that the media mainly focuses on all the negative things that happen rather showing the positive things for example somebody getting mugged although there is a brief shot of somebody helping a elderly lady
Is the music video performance, narrative or concept?
- Performance- artist is constantly singing through out
-Narrative- switches between media perspective and person who knows what it is actually like
Conclusion
Overall,I think this music video is interesting as it uses two perspectives to get the artists point across
